About us
For the band Unorthodox Radio, the name says it all: poppy melodies that could have come from the radio are given "unorthodox" arrangements. To do so, the five musicians get inspired by multiple genres, but mostly R'n'B, Neo-Soul and Jazz. Add stirring grooves, freely improvised solos and catchy melodies et voilá: The end result are contemporary and multifaceted pop songs.
Singer Michaela Fröhlich processes a range of positive and negative experiences in her songs, be it stories about love, self-doubt, or simple everyday events. Together with the saxophonist and arranger Armin Jambor, the lyrics and melodies are wrapped in a modern pop music guise. The two are inspired by various artists, such as Robert Glasper, Erykah Badu and Stevie Wonder. Together with Gregor Spener on drums, Hrvoje Kralj on bass and Benjamin Foris on keys, the band is complete.
